The Coach James (Jimmy) C. Ping Memorial Scholarship Fund
The Coach James C. (Jimmy) Ping Memorial Scholarship Fund was established to honor the career of Coach Jimmy Ping and to recognize students that share his passions and demonstrate his qualities. Coach Ping was a public school educator in Lynchburg Virginia. During his career he served as a middle school civics and history teacher, football and track coach, high school guidance counselor and elementary school principal. No matter the position or job title, Coach Ping was always energetic, enthusiastic and engaging. When he was involved: learning was fun, students were challenged and mistakes made while giving an honest effort were celebrated. Coach Ping took a personal interest in the success of his students. His guidance, mentorship and encouragement made a positive and lasting impact on the lives of many of his students. These scholarships are funded by one such former student.
